QUESTION: Does anyone own a machine which makes excellent espresso and gives a good
"crema" each time? More importantly, EASY TO CLEAN, reliable and relatively
trouble free.
My current machine is a Gaggia "Classic" which i have never
really been happy with. After only nine months of use this machine
has had to be sent back to a Gaggia Dealer for a service as the pump is not
delivering any pressure.
As for cleaning, in particular the shower head filter, i would be interested
in hearing what methods other people use to clean this item. the only method which i have found to
be 100% successful is to sandblast it. I know it may seem a bit "over the
top" but it does get the filter back to new condition.
I am living in the UK where Coffee drinking is still not as big as what it
is in the States or other European countries. So what machines have others
had experience of and how do you rate them?
ANSWER: I've had a Gaggia Classic for a few years amd have been quite happy
with it.
I've found that good espresso (including crema) is qiute regularly possible.
If you've been around this group more than a few days, you'll realise that
the variables are endless, beans, grind, tsmp humidity, lunar phase,
position of Leicester City in the league etc. No one gets great espresso
every time. My advice would be to get it right often with the Classic before
you splash out again.

For regular

thinking of the 8-oz Bodum travel press. But I thought I'd check here
